We left last Tuesday for our trip back to Texas. It was our first time flying with both kids and all things considered, they did really well.  Jacob was very excited to take his new backpack and wore it the whole time while walking through the airport like such a big boy.

Sorry about the blurry picture.  Not only was it taken on my phone but it’s impossible to get Bebup to hold still these days. 🙂

For those of you that are wondering what Jacob was carrying in his bag (we had a few random travelers ask in the airport), it was stuffed full with a few books, his leaptop (thanks Aunt Kristen!), a diaper, snacks, a couple of cars and his teddy bear.

Lilian enjoyed her first plane flight on her 8 month birthday.  Unlike her brother when he was a baby, she isn’t into being held while she sleeps so there was not much napping for her on Tuesday.  She still did very well despite the lack of sleep.

Since we flew into Dallas our original plan was to stay overnight with Tricia and Jay on Tuesday night, see a few friends Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning and then drive to Austin on Wednesday after lunch.  Unfortunately, Abigail was diagnosed with pneumonia on Tuesday morning.  When we landed we found out that it would be best not to expose Jacob and Lilian to her for 48 hours, until her news had time to kick in.

We quickly switched gears and decided to drive to Austin that evening.  We were able to meet up with Tricia, Nicolas and Josiah at a park near their home and then eat Mexican food with them before we got back in the car.  Our friend Veronica also joined us at the restaurant and was finally able to meet Miss Lilian.

After dinner we dressed the kids in their jammies and drove to Austin.  We arrived at my parent’s house a bit after midnight.  Right after Keith was pulled over for speeding.  Thankfully, the officer had pity on us when he heard Lilian screaming in the backseat (those flashing lights are really bright when your carseat is rear-facing!), coupled with my description of our last minute change of plans and only issued a warning.

While our day didn’t go exactly as planned we were very thankful for safe travels, family and friends who dropped everything to accommodate us, and the opportunity to introduce Lilian to her cousin Josiah and Miss Veronica.

Stay tuned for day 2…

And We’re Back!

We just returned from a wonderful trip back to Texas for Thanksgiving.  Lilian finally met the rest of her family and had her first taste of mexican food!  We squeezed as much into a short 6 days as we could and have lots of fun pictures to post.

One of my favorite moments from our trip was seeing GGB (Great Grandma Brunone) meet her 13th great grandchild and the first great grand daughter in 7 years and after 7 boys!

Stay tuned for more pictures!

While the boys were outside doing lawn work, Lilian and I decided to have some fun with the camera.

Jacob’s Time Machine

I don’t know where he got the idea that he could transport himself from our house to Nana’s house in the highchair, but I think the two funniest parts are right at the end when he thanks me “very much” for telling him how informative our chat was and when he looks up to say good bye to his fans.

A Word From Lilian

Please excuse my noises, but I couldn’t get Jacob to participate with the camera running.

Keeping it Real

Since we still have candy laying around I figured it’s not too late to post a few pictures from Halloween. This was my favorite:

Pretty good, right?

I guess I will have to settle for this one that I took before we ran out the door that morning.

Firefighter Elmo (Jacob couldn’t decide what he wanted to be) was a tad bit more cooperative than his baby sister

He even helped mow the grass after pictures!

This happy baby girl was 7 months on October 20th. Where oh where has the time gone?

Lilian LOVES to “talk” these days.  She makes all kinds of happy screechy noises.  If you respond, she will carry on a whole conversation with you. It’s especially sweet to see her chat with her brother or her little baby friends.

She is trying so hard to crawl.  Unfortunately, she hates being on her tummy so she tries to get there from a seated position.  Because she rolls from her tummy to her back as soon as you put her down, she hasn’t developed the strength to hold herself up and pull herself along.  She usually winds up face-planting and adding to the collection of bruises on her forehead. 😦  Even though she won’t be mastering crawling anytime soon, she is a champ at scooting around on her behind.  I leave her on the family room rug and find her galway to the kitchen a few minutes later.

Lilian continues to absolutely ADORE her older brother.  Jacob can stand near her and start to laugh and she will break out into the most adorable giggles.  She is also eating like a champ, and now eats most meals with us.  In fact, if she isn’t eating when we’re eating, she let’s us know under no uncertain terms just how displeased she is.

She cut two teeth this month.  Her bottom right tooth came in on October 11th and the left popped up on the 15th.

We feel so blessed to have this sweet girl as a part of our family and are having so much fun watching her grow!

30 Month Check-up

We had Jacob’s 2.5 year check-up last week (a tad bit late…).  He is growing well, and FINALLY broke 30lbs!  He has been hovering in the high 20’s since before we moved.  He came in at 50th percentile for weight, 37″ tall in the 75th percentile for height and his head was 50th as well.

He is developing beautifully, and our pediatrician couldn’t believe that this was the same little boy that would only say 5 words the last time she saw him.  I can’t believe that he is closer to 3 than he is to 2.  Makes this mama want to cry.
