Jacob was clearly a bit younger in this picture (about a month an a half), but I thought I should do a side-by-side just for fun in their fall jammies. I love both of their smiles!

Pumpkin Picking!

I started this post several weeks ago and just noticed that I never finished it:

On Columbus Day, Keith decided to play hooky so we could meet up with the Long family (just like last year) for some pumpkin hunting and fall fun.

When we arrived at Buell’s Orchard, we took a hayride out to the pumpkin patch.

We were a tad more bundled up than last year!

I thought it was appropriate that we took a picture of the ladies who are usually behind the camera!

The pumpkins seemed more picked over than last year so the hunt took a little longer.

The three big kids each managed to find their perfect pumpkin.

After waiting in a long line, we caught another hayride back to the farm where we enjoyed apple cider and fresh donuts.

The kids got to sit on Tractor Mac, pick out books and have them signed by author Billy Steers.

As always, we had a great time with the Long’s.  Thanks Melissa, Jay, Josh and Emma for a wonderful day! We can’t wait to do it again next year!

Two-year Old Logic

20121023-103038.jpg

Jacob knows that if he bangs his utensils or cup on the table during a meal that we will take them away. While eating lunch yesterday, he started banging his hand on the table. I asked him to stop, which he did. He then looked at me and said “if Bup bang again, Mommy take hand away.”

It’s amazing the things that Jacob picks up on these days.  He notices things that are completely off my radar, and absorbs everything that is going on around him. He is also very good at repeating everything he hears which definitely keeps Keith and me on our toes.  While his repeating causes us to second guess everything that comes out of our mouths, it has a positive side as well and makes for great entertainment:

A few months back Jacob surprised us by reciting both the Lord’s Prayer and the Hail Mary word for word. He continues to say (and sing) them on an almost daily basis.  Earlier this week while Keith was bathing him, he discovered that Jacob misunderstood the last line of the Hail Mary.  Jacob’s version concludes “Pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our bath. Amen”. That’s pretty close.

On Friday at dinner Jacob broke into song.  What was he singing you ask? The Itsy Bitsy Spider?  Wheels on the Bus?  Nope.  The Agnus Dei.  There’s nothing like your two-year old spouting out “Lamb of God, You take away the sins of the world.  Have mercy on us” to make you do a double take.  I guess he’s been listening at church.

The next night we were finishing up our meal when he started reciting the Apostle’s Creed.  Keith had gotten up from the table and missed it the first time, so we asked him to repeat it.  He did, in it’s entirety. With no references to bathing.  I wonder what he is going to pull out tonight?

Just for fun, I had Jacob video himself singing his very favorite song for you:

I found a new app that let’s me do all sorts of fun things with our pictures!

This is a picture taken of Lilian last night (she is 30 weeks today), and one of Jacob taken when he was around 30 weeks. They do resemble each other but not as much as I thought. Stay posted for more fun comparison pictures!

Workin

20121012-161222.jpg

Today we went to have lunch with Keith at work. Jacob has been asking to “go work with Daddy” for awhile now. He was pretty excited to eat a grilled cheese in the cafeteria and sit in his Daddy’s office chair but his favorite part of the trip was watching the piano in the lobby play music with no one sitting at the bench!
