Our favorite ice cream window opened for the season a few weeks ago!  Jacob was excited to go to the “ice cream farm” and Lilian was quite pleased with her first taste of Tulmeadow as well.  I think it’s going to be a delicious summer!

Jacob has been taking a short gymnastics class (which he pronounces junatstics) through our town’s parks and recreation department.  He seems to really like it and I think swinging, jumping, climbing and tumbling make a great outlet for his crazy amounts of three year old energy.  Earlier this week, when he was supposed to be napping I heard him talking in his room.  I turned on the monitor to see what he was saying and caught this gem:

I know you probably can’t understand him, but he is talking himself through it:

“Hands down, head down, tuck, and roll…no, hands up, stand up.

Hands down, head down, and roll”

On Saturday we attended a friend’s birthday party.

The main attraction was a man with a giant cooler full of bugs, lizards and turtles, etc for what amounted to creepy crawly show and tell. Jacob was mesmerized and touched a hissing cockroach (blech!), a tarantula, a couple of turtles, and a few snakes, among many other creatures that I did my best to avoid

Thankfully I was on Lilian duty and she was on the move the whole time.

Jacob has a habit of playing on our bed and leaving toys under our covers.  When I got into bed on Saturday night, these little guys were waiting for me.

I was just glad they weren’t real!

Last week we were homebound for a few days while Jacob had croup, so one afternoon I let the kids watch an episode of Sesame Street while I got dinner ready.  Lilian was sitting a few inches away from Jacob.  At some point she spotted something on the other side of him, crawled over to get it and then sat back down.  Right on top of him.  He was so glued to Super Grover that it took a minute or so for him to even be bothered by it!

The Box

We had some barstools delivered on Thursday, which means we had a GIANT BOX delivered on Thursday, too.  When I first suggested to Jacob that we might want to leave the box in the house so he could play in it he looked at me like I was nuts.  Once he crawled inside, he realized that his mom was onto something and he and Lilian have been playing in it ever since.

Free Cone Day!

Every year the Ben and Jerry’s near our house hosts a free cone fundraiser day for the local fire department.  We went with a few friends on Tuesday and enjoyed some ice cream and a chance to climb through a fire truck and ambulance.

Jacob has taken it upon himself to help Lilian practice her walking.  He grabs her hands and drags her around the house several times a say now.  Maybe he’s hoping she’ll get so tired of it that she’ll just let go and walk away and Mom and Dad can go back to carrying him?!?!?!
